Branch Open House
Come out and learn what exciting events the Toronto Branch has planned for the winter and spring. Join us at P.J. O’Brien’s, on Monday, February 6th.
The Toronto Branch Young Alumni Committee is a group of recent grads working to bring the connections, camaraderie and spirit of Queen’s to the bustling city of Toronto. Our goal is to create great opportunities for Young Alumni (YA) to come together and connect with alumni friends, old and new.
What began as a small group of enthusiastic recent graduates has evolved into a dedicated bunch of motivated volunteers who run events year round. With all of life’s hectic happenings, volunteer commitments are manageable and the results are always very rewarding. To get involved with any of our upcoming events, drop a quick line to Zhaodi Culbreath (Sc’ 08) at queensyac[at]gmail.com.
Upcoming Events
Spring into Action[March 2012]
Queen’s Alumni continue the spirit of giving back to the Toronto community in many ways. The YAC is looking to partner with an organization in need of volunteers (Habitat for Humanity, local shelter, community beautification project etc.).
YA Sports Team(s) [Spring, Summer, Fall 2012]
Some say Toronto is a city with two seasons: winter and construction. Take advantage of construction season by getting outdoors and staying active with other YA. Remotely athletic? Join a YA team and hit the court, field or sand with your fellow YA decked out in Tricolour.
Summer Patio Series [June/July 2012]
Torontonians and YA alike love to dine and drink al fresco. In the rich rays of the summer sun, this would be another great opportunity for YAs to check out a patio spot in TO and raise a glass to sunshine.
YA Networking (YA Inspired 2.0) [September 2012]
Networking with an edge: YA don’t just chat, we connect. This September’s inaugural event saw 60 people take networking to the next level with a live Twitter feed and inspirational young alumni passion pitches. Next year’s event will take a new spin.
Bills Tailgate Party [Oct 2012]
There’s nothing like a parking lot that screams “Let’s eat and celebrate football!” You’ve seen it on TV, coming soon to Queen’s YAs.
Tournament of Gaels Curling Bonspiel [Nov 2012]
In its first year, this sold out event had 24 teams and over 140 participants. Held at the East York Curling Club we are looking to build on its past success and rock the house.
